Inspection Tour: Kachin State CM conducted inspection tour in Putao

A coordination meeting on oil sufficiency was held at the District General Administration Department meeting hall in Putao, Kachin State on February 3. The meeting, which included district/township-level department officials and local farmers, was addressed by State Chief Minister U Hkett Htain Nan.

Following this, the Chairman of the District Management and Administration Committee explained the situation regarding yearly expansion of cultivation acreage for oil crop sufficiency within the district, and the status of allocated funds and loan repayments under the first, second, and third cycles of the Country’s Economic Promotion Fund. Attending farmers presented and discussed needs related to agricultural and livestock farming activities. The State Chief Minister coordinated with state and district level departmental officials to address these needs. He also disbursed 10 million kyats from the principal of the third-year cycle of the Country’s Economic Promotion Fund to farmer Daw Anar, who will undertake pig farming. He then delivered concluding remarks.

Subsequently, the State Chief Minister and officials inspected a 335-foot-long stone-reinforced retaining wall constructed by the Malihka Brothers Company over the Nam Htun stream flowing near Ho Phai village in the airport ward of Putao Township, reviewing its construction status. They also examined the status of the Ho Phai North Weir.

Next, they visited the privately-owned Kakabora Home for the Aged in Duttan Ward, Putao town, where they warmly greeted and encouraged the elderly residents and donated 1 million kyats for the elderly residents.

From there, the State Chief Minister and officials went to Khisi Di village, Mulasidi village tract. They inquired and discussed the progress of successful cultivation plots enabled by the Country’s Economic Promotion Fund, plans for expanding cultivation, and market sales conditions. The State Chief Minister provided support of natural fertilizer bags and foliar spray fertilizers for the agricultural activities.

Afterwards, they visited a basic motorcycle repair and maintenance training course organized by the District Small-Scale Industries Department for local youth at the ward hall in Mulasidi village, offering encouragement. 500,000 kyats was also provided as support funding for the training, it’s reported.
