Combating Online Scams: Online scam operations raided in Southern Shan State

Security forces have uncovered and dismantled online scam and gambling operations near Wam Namt Min Village in Kali Town of Kunhing Township in  southern Shan State, following tip-offs from local residents.

During operations from January 29 to 31, authorities seized numerous buildings used for illegal activities, along with equipment including computers, laptops, Starlink devices, generators, and other related items. A total of 233 Chinese nationals involved in online scam and gambling activities were arrested in the area over three days. All seized items will be handled according to procedures, and those arrested will be prosecuted in line with the law.

Authorities said investigations are continuing to identify and take action against those behind the operations. The government stated it is intensifying efforts to eliminate online scams and gambling in Myanmar, working closely with neighboring countries, regional partners, and international organizations to prevent such crimes from operating within the country.
