Union Minister for Cooperatives and Rural Development U Hla Moe, accompanied by Deputy Minister U Thaik Soe and officials, visited Gwayt Gyi Village in Lewe Township, Nay Pyi Taw Council Area, on January 14 and met with member farmers of cooperative societies in the township as well as cooperative executive members.

During the meeting, the Union Minister explained that, in line with the guidance of the Government, cooperative member farmers in respective regions and states were supported in the 2024–2025 fiscal year with high-yield seeds and agricultural inputs financed by the State Economic Promotion Fund, and in the 2025–2026 fiscal year with funds from the Rainbow Cooperative Project, under a crop-on-credit system.

He added that the harvested paddy was repurchased and milled at cooperative-owned rice mills. He stated that these measures were implemented to improve the socio-economic conditions of rural residents, create employment opportunities, increase household incomes, and achieve target yields for agricultural crops.

He then coordinated and addressed, as necessary, the agricultural needs and regional development proposals presented by the cooperative member farmers. Subsequently, the Union Minister inspected the completion status of a 1.9-furlong production road in Gwayt Gyi Village implemented with Union-approved funds for the 2024–2025 fiscal year by the Department of Rural Development, and gave necessary instructions.

Continuing the visit, the Union Minister encouraged cooperative member farmers from We Gyi and Gwayt Gyi villages and inspected crop fields covering 100 acres cultivated by 30 farmers. He urged officials to recheck whether the implemented solar-powered irrigation projects were functioning properly and encouraged cooperative member farmers to collectively maintain them to ensure long-term sustainable use.
