






Deputy Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation Dr. Aung Gyi inspected the Crocodile Breeding Farm in Thaketa Township, Yangon Region, on December 31. The Region Director of the Fisheries Department and the farm officer in charge explained the ongoing operations at the farm, the rearing of crocodiles in separate ponds according to their age from after mating and egg-laying to maturity, the maintenance of natural ponds and concrete ponds, and arrangements made to ensure that the public visiting the crocodile breeding farm can tour and study safely and comfortably.
The Deputy Minister inspected the farm grounds and instructed the responsible personnel to ensure an adequate water supply for the easy movement and activity of the crocodiles, to tag and maintain records for each crocodile, and to keep detailed records for increasing the number of hatchlings.
Afterward, the Deputy Minister inspected the water quality testing and freshwater research unit operations of the Fisheries Department. He discussed and directed that all civil servants must diligently fulfil their duties according to their respective sectors and to ensure a clean, pleasant, and beautiful office environment.
Later, the Deputy Minister visited the microbiology and analysis laboratory units under the Development and Research Division of the Fisheries Department. Responsible officials explained the planned activities for the 2026-2027 fiscal year, domestic and international training experiences, additional testing parameters to be expanded as ISO extension parameters, and future operational procedures.
Regarding the presentations, the Deputy Minister emphasized maintaining the fish and shrimp product testing laboratory's status as an internationally recognized ISO/IEC 17025:2017 accredited lab, coordinating with domestic and international organizations for the technical implementation of preventive maintenance (PM), enhancing staff expertise, and for ensuring health, it’s reported.
