Motorcycle Thefts Arrested: 2 suspects involved in motorcycle thefts arrested

Two suspects involved in a series of motorcycle thefts in the Nay Pyi Taw Council Area, were identified and arrested on the night of September 1st, together with 19 motorcycles stolen by them, according to an official statement.

The case came to light when, on the morning of 12 May 2026, Ma Htet Htet Phyo of Sat Yon Village, Pyinmana Township, travelled to Hsin Thay ဆင်သေ Market in Zay Kone Village on her Honda Wave 100 motorcycle, registration No. 46Y/73482.

She parked the motorcycle near the market and went shopping. Upon returning, she found that the motorcycle was missing. A case was subsequently opened at the Pyinmana Myoma Police Station under Case No. 145/2026, in accordance with Section 379 (theft of a motorcycle) of the Penal Code, and investigations were launched to identify and arrest the motorcycle thief.

As part of efforts to identify and apprehend the suspects, information was gathered and investigations were conducted in the area. On the night of 1st September, two suspects allegedly involved in the motorcycle thefts including La Min Zaw, of Nyaungpintha Village, Pyinmana Township, and Zin Ye Htun, of Uyinzu Ward, were arrested at their respective homes.

During further questioning to determine whether they had committed other offences, it was revealed that the two suspects had stolen 13 motorcycles from Pyinmana Township and six motorcycles from various townships within the Nay Pyi Taw Council Area during May, June and July 2026, making a total of 19 motorcycles. All 19 motorcycles were subsequently recovered and seized as exhibits.

In connection with the case, the two suspects involved in the series of motorcycle thefts in the Nay Pyi Taw Council Area were arrested together with the 19 stolen motorcycles. A total of 16 cases have been opened at the respective police stations in the areas where the thefts were committed, and further action is being taken against the suspects in accordance with the law.
