










The opening ceremony of the 27th Yangon Region Myanmar Traditional Cultural Performing Arts Competition covering the Botahtaung, Thanlyin, and Kyauktadar districts, was held Wednesday morning at the Myanmar Convention Centre (MCC).
At the ceremony, Patron of the Organizing Committee for the 27th Yangon Region Myanmar Traditional Cultural Performing Arts Competition, Yangon Region Chief Minister, U Aung Naing Thu, delivered the opening remarks and officially opened the event by cutting a ceremonial ribbon.
Following the opening, performances were presented by Myanmar traditional songs and dances. The Chief Minister then presented cash awards to the performing groups. A total of 96 contestants participated in the district-level competition, representing the Botahtaung, Thanlyin, and Kyauktadar districts, across the various competition categories from September 9 to September 10.
The finals and award ceremony of the 2026 Yangon Region Government Chief Minister’s Cup 14-District Men’s and Women’s Traditional Boat Race were held Wednesday morning at the Myanmar Rowing Federation compound on Inya Lake in Kamayut Township, Yangon Region.
Yangon Region Chief Minister U Aung Naing Oo, Region Ministers and departmental officials attended the event and watched and encouraged the athletes competing in the final races.
At the prize-giving ceremony, Region Ministers presented individual medals, cash awards and championship trophies to the men’s and women’s teams that won first, second and third prizes in the respective events, as well as to the Twante District team, which won the women’s championship, and the Hmawbi District team, which won the men’s championship.
Afterwards, Patron of the Yangon Region Sports and Physical Education Committee, Yangon Region Chief Minister U Aung Naing Thu, presented cash awards and the overall championship trophy to the Twante District team, which won the overall championship title. The competition was held from 8 to 9 September with the participation of 14 teams comprising 250 athletes.
