






Polling stations opened at 6:00 am on December 28 for the first phase of the 2025 multi-party democracy general election.
In Mayangon Township of Yangon Region, voters came to cast their votes to elect the candidate who can serve for the interest of the nation and its people.
This year's election practice the use of Myanmar Electronic Voting Machine for the first time.
Polling Booth Officer, Polling Booth No.5, Mayangon, Lwin Mar Maung said " This is my first time, working as the Polling Booth Officer. This year's election uses the MEVM, and we have planned for possible challenges for using the machine. But the advantages is using this machine take less time for voting process, ensuring the accuracy. I would like to urged all eligible voters to come and cast vote as a duty of the citizen."
Polling stations officers are providing necessary arrangements for convenience of the voters, ensuring the smooth process.
Polling Booth Officer, Polling Booth No.1, Mayangon, Nay Chi Lin said " We use the MEVM for the first time in the election. It's a new experience for us all. To be familiar with using this machine, we have been provided with the training at various levels to operate the MEVM efficiently. Voting with this machine avoid invalid ballots."
Eight candidates from seven political parties, United Nationalities Democracy Party, Shan and Nationalities Democratic Party, People’s Party, People’s Pioneer Party, Nyeinchanye Akyosaung Party, Union Solidarity and Development Party and National Unity Party as well as one Independent Candidate are contesting in Mayangon Constituency,
