Renovation Work : Reconstruction progress of Sin Thay Weir

Union Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation U Min Naung inspected the reconstruction of the Sin Thay Weir near Thayetkwin Village in Tatkon Township on Saturday.

The original weir was damaged by the March 28 Mandalay earthquake. The new weir will be built with 400 ft long and 6 ft high reinforced concrete structure, ensuring stability and irrigation for over 11,000 acres of farmland. The Union Minister reviewed the design, construction plans, water alignment, and irrigation system to ensure quality and safety.

He also inspected damaged areas of the original weir, ongoing maintenance, and protective measures, including gabion walls along vulnerable sections, to reduce future flood damage. He urged officials to complete reconstruction on time, meeting the set standards.
