Drug Seizure : Over 14 kilograms of heroin seized in Mandalay

Police seized over 14 kilograms of heroin worth over 357 million kyat in Chanmyathazi Township, according to the Myanmar Police Force.

On December 21 at about 5:30 pm, a joint anti-narcotics task force stopped and searched a Toyota Land Cruiser at the corner of 56(A) and 110 streets in Kanthaya Ward. 4.4 kg of heroin were found in the vehicle, which was driven by Aung Myint with Win Myaing as a passenger.

Following further investigation, police searched their house in Amarapura Township later that evening and seized an additional 9.9 kg of heroin. The total seizure amounted to 14.3 kg. Authorities said the drugs were allegedly transported to Mandalay by a suspect from Phekhon Township, who remains at large.

Legal action has been taken under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law, and further investigations are ongoing.
