5th Anniversary Ceremony of DIP: MoC UM delivered the opening remark

The ceremony to mark the 5th anniversary of the Department of Intellectual Property under the Ministry of Commerce was held on December 23, at the Conference Hall of Office No. (3), Ministry of Commerce, Nay Pyi Taw. The Union Minister, U Chit Swe, attended the event and delivered the opening address.

In his opening remarks, the Union Minister stated that, in line with the Ministry’s objective of establishing a modern and sound intellectual property system to promote the development of the economic ecosystem, the Department of Intellectual Property has been implementing an intellectual property protection system that supports the nation’s economic growth. He noted that the Department of Intellectual Property was established on December 23, 2020, and that the four intellectual property laws enacted in 2019 were successfully brought into force in 2023 and 2024.

As a result, intellectual property registration processes have been successfully implemented. Over the past five years, the Department has not only been able to carry out its assigned duties but has also become a department capable of generating tax revenue for the State etc.

Subsequently, the Director General of the Department presented an overview of the measures undertaken to develop the national intellectual property system. This was followed by the presentation of awards to staff members and performances of commemorative songs in honor of the anniversary celebration, it’s learnt.
