






The Union Minister for Immigration and Population, U Myint Kyaing, accompanied by responsible officials, visited Daw Paik Mi Home for Aged in Wakema Township, Ayeyarwady Region, on December 23.
During the visit, he met with the officials of the home and the elderly residents, inquiring into matters to ensure that the elderly do not lose their voting rights in the upcoming general election, that they are able to vote by holding National Registration Cards, that their biographic and biometric data are collected and Unique ID numbers issued, as well as the conditions of their accommodation, food provision, and healthcare services. He also personally distributed cash donations and food items to each elderly resident.
Afterwards, the Union Minister paid respects to the elderly and then donated solar lights and food supplies to the officials of the Home, warmly greeting the residents. The Union Minister then proceeded to the office of the Myanmar War Veterans Organization in Wakema Township, where he met with members of the organization. He explained and discussed the current government’s activities, efforts being made to hold a multiparty democratic general election, preparations for the success of the upcoming general election, and encouraged war veterans who had served in the defense of the nation to contribute in their own ways to national stability, peace, and development. He also coordinated and addressed the necessary matters in response to the presentations made by responsible officials.
Subsequently, the Union Minister distributed food supplies to the war veterans, provided solar lights and food items to support the War Veterans Organization office, and warmly greeted the members.
Next, the Union Minister visited Maha Dhammikayon Monastery in Wakema Township, paid homage to the presiding Sayadaw, discussed religious affairs, and offered donations of cash and donation items to the Sayadaw.
Following this, the Union Minister instructed responsible officials to make arrangements for issuing National Registration Cards to eligible youths residing at the Youth Development Philanthropic Shelter within the monastery compound, and distributed snacks to the youths at the shelter, it’s reported.
