Terrorist Attack: Bridge destroyed by explosion in Thabeikkyin Township

A reinforced concrete bridge on the Mandalay–Madaya–Thabeikkyin road near Zayatkwin Village, Thabeikkyin Township, Mandalay Region, was destroyed by a mine explosion on Friday morning.

Security forces conducting area security operations came under small-arms fire by the PDF terrorists at around 10:50 a.m. near Zayatkwin Village, about 7 kilometers south of Thabeikkyin town. After an exchange of fire, the terrorists retreated toward the south of the village.

During their retreat, the terrorists detonated explosives on the village-to-village reinforced concrete bridge connecting Zayatkwin and Leik Kya Villages. The bridge, measuring 80 feet in length and 15 feet in width, sustained severe damage as its supporting pillars collapsed, making it impassable for both vehicles and pedestrians. Security forces are continuing necessary counter-terrorism operations, and relevant departments are working to restore the bridge for normal use as soon as possible.
