Respect Paying Ceremony : MOI Union Minister attends the ceremony in Yangon

Marking Myanmar Literati Day, Myanmar Writers Association held a respect paying ceremony to doyen literati at City Hall in Yangon on 13th December. Union Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn, Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein, region ministers and concerned officials attended the ceremony.

At the ceremony, the Union Minister handed over the over 14.5 million kyat worth of clothes, bags and scarfs donated by Acting President and Chairman of the State Security and Peace Commission Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla.

Chairman of Myanmar Writers Association U Ohn Maung (Myin Mu Maung Naing Moe) accepted them. Then, the cash assistance donated by the National Defence and Security Council, Ministry of Information, Yangon Region Government, Yangon City Development Committee, Union Solidarity and Development Party, The Republic of The Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry were handed over and the honorary certificates were presented to the donors in return.

Then, the Union Minister, Chief Minister and Chairman of Myanmar Writers Association delivered speeches respectively. Next, the attendees paid respect to 288 doyen literati. On behalf of the doyen literati, Author Ledwin Thar Saw Chit expressed words of appreciation. Then, the Union Minister and Chief Minister cordially greeted the doyen literati.
