







The ceremony for the Opening of Regular Courses and the Fresher Welcoming Ceremony for First-Year Students at the Magway Education Degree College under the Department of Teacher Education and Training, Ministry of Education for the 2025-2026 academic year was held on December 9 at the Pyinnya Beikman Hall of the Magway Education Degree College. Region Chief Minister U Tint Lwin attended and delivered an address.
First, the trainees opened the ceremony by singing the song "Panyar Panwae, Hpan Khar Myay ." Region Chief Minister U Tint Lwin welcomed the first-year students beginning their classes at the Magway Education Degree College for the 2025-2026 academic year. He stated that all 25 Education Degree Colleges across the country simultaneously train prospective primary and middle school teachers.
They undergo a four-year training program in teaching methods, and upon successful completion, they receive a B.A. (Education) or B.Sc. (Education) degree and are appointed to middle school teaching positions. From there, they can further pursue a B.Ed., Master of Education (M.Ed.), and even a Doctorate (Ph.D.). Therefore, the more effort they put in, the more learning opportunities they will have. He mentioned that countries around the world today require qualified teachers capable of providing quality education. Teachers themselves must continuously enhance their subject expertise, knowledge, and understanding of evolving educational systems to improve their own competencies.
Continuing, the Mr. and Miss Fresher participated in a posture competition. Trainees also performed songs and dances for entertainment.
Afterwards, the Region Chief Minister presented sashes to the winners of the Mr. and Miss Fresher titles. He also presented cash awards of honor to the Mr. and Miss Fresher and the entertainment groups.
