Regional Cooperation: Myanmar hosts CLMV Economic Ministers’ Meeting

The 17th Cambodia-Laos-Myanmar-Viet Nam CLMV Economic Ministers’ Meeting was held in Yangon on November 7th.

Union Minister for Investment and Foreign Economic Relations Dr. Wah Wah Maung together with the delegations from CLMV member countries and Deputy Secretary General Satvinder Singh of ASEAN Secretariat attended the meeting.

The meeting was held with the aims of narrowing development gap among the member countries, creating more investment opportunities and cooperation in economic sectors for socio economic development.

Union Minister, Dr. Wah Wah Maung, said " Ministry of Investment & Foreign Economic Relations We discussed to draft action plans for the implementation of digital economy for MSME cooperation. In implementing CLMV Development Frame Work 2023-2024, 18 working plans were completed while 9 others are currently working. And also, discussions are being made with ASEAN partner countries and multilateral organizations for fund to implement remaining 9 others. "

The Union Minister also called for closer cooperation among CLMV countries amid challenging in geopolitics and economic conditions. During the meeting, discussions were made on supply chain among CLMV countries including sharing of market information, assisting technologies on agriculture sector and manufacturing.  

Union Minister, Dr. Wah Wah Maung, said " Ministry of Investment & Foreign Economic Relations Living Documents for future working processes for 2026-2027 drafted during the meeting in line with the ASEAN working plans. And, participation in Expos and Trade Fair of member countries to display products for market penetration and potential for investment opportunities were also focused."

Regarding the investment sector in Myanmar, the Union Minister pointed out the investment opportunities for sectors on oil and natural gas, mining, electricity, manufacturing especially agro-based industry.
