Work Coordination Meeting: MOST UM delivered the opening address

A work coordination meeting for Technological Universities, Computer Universities, and Polytechnic Universities under the Department of Higher Science and Technology, Ministry of Science and Technology, was held in a hybrid format at the meeting hall of the Nay Pyi Taw State Polytechnic University on November 6.

Union Minister for Science and Technology Dr. Myo Thein Kyaw attended and delivered the opening address. In his opening address, the Union Minister stated that Technological Universities, Computer Universities, and Polytechnic Universities are the main universities responsible for developing science and technology human resources.

He emphasized the need to fulfill the requirements for the development of the nation's industrial sector. He noted that under the leadership of the State, Polytechnic Universities have been successfully opened and are observed to be serving the interests of their respective regions.

He highlighted the necessity of continuously conducting research beneficial to the nation and the region, as research-based universities. He also stressed the importance of harmoniously upgrading teaching methods in line with evolving technologies.

Subsequently, the Deputy Minister urged efforts to keep pace with the rapidly advancing trends in AI technology, to strive towards creating universities that are vibrant with IT professionals and research beneficial to the nation, and for relevant departments to collaborate in practically applying research results to continuously enhance the socio-economic lives of the people.

Following this, the Director General and Deputy Directors General of the Department of Higher Science and Technology explained matters related to teaching and administration. The Rectors and Pro-Rectors from the various attending universities then presented and discussed their respective university's activities, strengths, weaknesses, and challenges. It is reported that the meeting will continue until November 7th.
