The first coordination meeting of the Myanmar Sports Success Committee was held on Saturday at Thuwunna National Indoor Stadium (1) to discuss preparations for the 33rd Southeast Asian Games, which will be held in Thailand in December, and to plan recognition for outstanding athletes.

Chairman of the Myanmar Olympic Committee, Union Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs and Hotels and Tourism, Jeng Phang Naw Taung attended the meeting and made a speech. The Union Minister said the government had increased the daily training allowance for athletes from 5,000 to 12,000 kyats starting July 2025 to ensure proper nutrition and training support.

He also thanked sports federations for their contributions, especially in supporting athletes despite challenges following the Mandalay earthquake reconstruction efforts. He highlighted achievements such as Myanmar’s Esports world champions and ISPE FC women’s team qualifying for the AFC Women’s Champions League, with over 1 billion kyats in rewards presented through joint efforts.

The Union Minister explained that the Myanmar Sports Success Committee, formed on October 16, aims to coordinate regional support, ensure athlete preparation, and promote rewards and career opportunities for successful athletes. Committee members discussed ongoing training programs, athlete readiness, and future support plans.

The Union Minister urged all sectors to work together to ensure Myanmar’s success at the 33rd SEA Games and to bring honor to the nation through sports.
