Engineering Achievement Award 2025 : Myanmar engineer wins ASEAN outstanding award

Major Pyae Phyo Maung from the Ministry of Defence has been honored with the ASEAN Outstanding Engineering Achievement Award (Individual Category) for 2025.

The award ceremony took place during the 43rd Conference of the ASEAN Federation of Engineering Organizations (AFEO), held from October 28 to 30, in Mabalacat City of Pampanga in the Philippines. Major Pyae Phyo Maung was recognized for his contributions to engineering innovation including international research achievements, success in global composite technology competitions, the application of modern and traditional techniques in constructing the Maravijaya Buddha Image, and the restoration of earthquake-damaged ancient pagodas in Mandalay using composite technology.

The nomination was submitted by the Myanmar Engineering Society, reviewed at the AFEO Midterm Meeting in Da Nang of Viet Nam, and approved by the AFEO Governing Board.
