PDF terrorists and their allies blew up the Ayeyarwady Bridge (Yadana Theinkha), an important bridge linking Singu Township in Mandalay Region and Kyauk Myaung Township in Sagaing Region, at around 6:10 a.m. on Wednesday.

The explosion damaged parts of the bridge’s main pillars between RP4 and RP5, and near RP6-A2, causing serious structural damage. As a result, vehicles and commuters can no longer cross, and commodity flow has come to a halt.

The bridge, which is 2,480 feet long and 25 feet wide, was built by Bridge Construction Special Group No. 14 between April 2010 and July 2013 and has been a key transport route for local people and trade. Local residents strongly condemned the attack, saying such acts harm civilians and disrupt livelihoods. Authorities said repair work on the damaged bridge will begin as soon as possible.
