Regional Stability: Tatmadaw regains control of Lay Kay Kaw area

Tatmadaw has regained control of Shu Khin Tha and Swe Taw Kone stations in Lay Kay Kaw area, Kayin State, previously occupied by KNU/KNLA and PDF terrorists. These groups had temporarily seized areas to establish their own administration and had used foreign funding and illegal activities to support armed operations.

The Tatmadaw also reclaimed Lay Kay Kaw New Town on October 5, which had been taken over by armed groups who displaced local residents. Nearby, the notorious KK Park, known for illegal online scams and unauthorized foreign presence, was also cleared.

Authorities discovered over 2,100 individuals, including foreign nationals, and seized illegal equipment, including Starlink devices and weapons.

Over several clashes including 6 major battles and 52 smaller encounters,  the Tatmadaw seized weapons and property, while continuing operations along the Myanmar-Thailand border to prevent illegal crossings, scams, and insurgent hideouts. The Tatmadaw stated it will maintain efforts to secure border areas and prevent terrorist group operations.
