Development Efforts: Meeting with townselders in Pathein

Acting President and Chairman of State Security and Peace Commission Senior General Min Aung Hlaing met with departmental personnel and townselders in Pathein of Ayeyawady Region on Sunday.

The Chief Minister provided update reports on agriculture and livestock works, efforts for food sufficiency and achieving targeted yield, implementation of green manure fertilizer, seed production, mixed crop cultivation, supply of irrigated water, boosting oil production, export condition, power supply, transportation, MSME development, education promotion, sports sector and tourism industry. Townselders and entrepreneurs also reported on the needs for upgrading Pathein-Yangon road and Thalut Khwar Bridge on Pathein-Ngwesaung Road and construction of multipurpose stadium as well as the implementations for agriculture, power supply and MSME industry.

The Union Ministers and the Chief Minister explained the work undertakings for better transportation, river course maintenance works, extended operation of flights, loan disbursement, farmland management and human resource development for agriculture and livestock sector.

The Acting President stressed the need to produce quality products in addition to achieving the targeted yields. He also reiterated to systematically utilize farmland, in conjunction with fish and prawn breeding, to use good agriculture practice, to increase exports by boosting production, to expand oil crops cultivation and livestock breeding.

He also highlighted for education promotion, upgrading sports standards, providing better health care, urban development and forest conservation. He added that preparations are underway for holding a free and fair election in coming December, and urged all to cooperate in successful holding of the election. Then, the Acting President viewed the display of MSME products there.

The Acting President and party later inspected the construction progress of Sports and Physical Education Institute (Pathein), and the Modern Swimming Pool. They then proceeded to Pathein Airport and heard reports on upgrading of the airport. The Acting President instructed for systematic implementation of the tasks and timely completion of the project, meeting the set standard.
