Union Minister for Industry Dr. Charlie Than, along with director-general and managing directors, visited the Yuzana Company Limited soybean oil factory in the Shwelinban Industrial Zone, Hlaingthaya Township, Yangon Region on August 31.
At the factory's meeting hall, the managing director gave a presentation on the factory's construction, its operation in producing soybean oil, and its temporary shutdown due to an insufficient supply of raw materials.
In response, the Union Minister stated that to ensure a sufficient supply of raw materials, farmers must be provided with the necessary seeds, technology, cultivation costs, and fertilizers in advance. He explained that integrating agricultural raw materials with industrial production can bring benefits such as import substitution, job creation, and local consumption sufficiency, and he urged them to work toward these goals. He also stressed the importance of restarting the soybean oil factory, as it would not only provide jobs for local people but also ensure the availability of edible oil and animal feed. The Union Minister assured that he would coordinate and facilitate efforts to ensure a full supply of raw materials and that the ministry would provide the necessary technical assistance to help the factory resume operations.
After the meeting, the Union Minister toured the factory to inspect the machinery installation and the raw material storage facilities.
