Labour Affairs: Meeting with the IOM Chief of Mission in Myanmar

Union Minister for Labour U Maung Myint met with Mr. Daihei Mochizuki, Chief of Mission of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Myanmar, and party in Nay Pyi Taw on Thursday.

During the meeting, the Union Minister highlighted Myanmar's cooperation with IOM on migrant worker issues and efforts to protect the rights of Myanmar workers abroad, especially in Thailand and Malaysia.He also discussed the issuance of Certificates of Identity (CI) to undocumented Myanmar nationals in Thailand and the government's efforts to complete the process within the required period.

Both sides exchanged views on promoting safe, orderly and regular migration, protecting migrant workers' rights, preventing illegal migration, providing vocational training and job opportunities for returning migrant workers, and supporting the issuance of necessary documents for Myanmar migrant workers.
