







A coordination meeting to use natural gas effectively for the development of the State’s economy was held at Myanmar Oil and Gas Enterprises (Lower Myanmar Branch) in Yangon on 31st August.
At the meeting, Union Minister for Energy U Ko Ko Lwin said energy sector is of paramount important for the development of the State’s economy. Currently in Myanmar, 85% of natural gas is being consumed for supplying electricity, 8% in industry and production and 7% in transportation.
He reiterated that it is necessary to use the resources of oil and gas effectively due to its limited access. He stressed to upgrade pipe line networks while using metering system in distributing gas from stations to plants. Arrangements are undertaken to ensure the efficiency of materials.
By doing so, the surplus will be used in feedstock/Fuel sector of the factories and productivity and State’s income will be increase. The meeting discussed the measures including oil and gas exploration, CNG distribution, plans to distribute gas by using metering system, upgrading the laboratories and equipment.
