Tatmadaw has successfully regained control of strategic areas near Naungcho Township, including the Got Twin and Gokteik railway bridges, which had been temporarily occupied by TNLA and PDF forces.
After capturing Naungcho town on July 16, 2025, the Tatmadaw launched further operations to clear surrounding routes, especially the Naungcho-Kyaukme road, a vital section of the Mandalay-Lashio-Muse highway. Despite facing challenging terrain and strong enemy fortifications, the military carried out flanking attacks, capturing the villages including Naung Pain, Pin Paw, and Kyaung Gone between August 19 to 28.
Over 12 days, 47 clashes occurred, resulting in the deaths of 29 terrorists and the seizure of 23 weapons. Tatmadaw engineers are now working to restore transport access by clearing roadblocks and constructing a temporary bailey bridge at Got Twin to replace a destroyed section.
TNLA and PDF terrorists had previously bombed and damaged several key bridges, including the Gokteik heritage bridge in attempts to block trade and Tatmadaw movement. The Tatmadaw stated that clearance operations and infrastructure repair efforts are still ongoing to ensure public access and regional stability.
