Social Welfare and Development: Myanmar hosts ASEAN Ministerial Meetings

Myanmar hosted the 12th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Social Welfare and Development (AMMSWD) and the 8th ASEAN+3 Ministerial Meeting on Social Welfare and Development (AMMSWD+3) on Friday.

Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr. Soe Win chaired the meetings under the theme "Enhancing Responsive Social Protection for Vulnerable Groups in the ASEAN Community."

Ministers from ASEAN and ASEAN+3 countries, China, Japan, South Korea, discussed national policies, progress, and collaborative efforts to improve social protection for vulnerable populations such as pregnant women, young children, the elderly, and persons with disabilities.

Union Minister Dr. Soe Win also shared Myanmar's efforts in providing financial support to mothers and children under 2 years, the elderly, and persons with disabilities, humanitarian assistance and recovery work in areas affected by the recent Mandalay earthquake and deploying psychosocial support teams to disaster-hit regions.
