Stability Efforts: Union Minister visits Naungcho to support recovery

Union Minister for Home Affairs and Chair of the National Disaster Management Committee, Lt-Gen Tun Tun Naung, along with Deputy Minister for Social Welfare Dr. Than Soe and senior officials, visited Naungcho, northern Shan State, on Thursday.

During the visit, the Union Minister met with departmental officials and ethnic residents who had returned after being displaced due to armed conflicts. The Union Minister emphasized government efforts to restore peace, reopen schools, provide healthcare, and support the return of normal life.

He urged public cooperation in maintaining law and order and encouraged participation in the upcoming multi-party democratic general election planned for December 2025, while warning against election disruption under new legislation. They also provided basic food supplies to security forces, civil servants, and locals.

They also visited Naungcho People’s Hospital, and provided cash assistance to the patients. They also inspected the Fire Services Department, Police Stations and administrative offices. At the No.1 Basic Education High School, they met with students and encouraged their studies.
