







The Union Minister for the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs and the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism, accompanied by Deputy Minister U Phyo Zaw Soe and other officials, inspected foreign-invested hotels in Yangon in the morning on August 26.
During the inspection, officials from the foreign-invested hotels, first, provided a briefing on their guest services, occupancy rates, and overall operations. In response, the Union Minister instructed the hotel officials to work towards becoming hotels that meet both international and ministry standards.
He also encouraged them to share good management practices and habits among hotels, and to innovate and use Myanmar-made products and traditional foods into high-value ways. He further urged them to play their part in the ministry's efforts to develop the tourism sector.
Next, the Union Minister visited the Kandawgyi Hotel and Tourism Training School, where he met with the instructors. He toured the school to inspect the ongoing hotel service and guest service training courses and discussed and gave necessary instructions.
In the afternoon, the Union Minister met with the Chairman and officials of the Myanmar Tourism Federation at the Chatrium Hotel. The federation's officials first presented their plans, including the formation of a Myanmar Tourism Promotion Board, the drafting of the Myanmar Tourism Master Plan (2026-2030), and the creation of Myanmar tourism promotion programs.
The Deputy Minister and other officials provided additional clarification on these points. Based on the presentations, the Union Minister urged them to form working groups with representatives from both the government and the private sector to revise the Myanmar Tourism Master Plan (2026-2030) to align with modern times and to adopt a policy-based approach.
He also encouraged them to work with a balanced focus on time, value, methods, and cost when drafting plans, and to ensure that all parties, both public and private, work together to develop the tourism sector.
