Union Minister for Immigration and Population U Myint Kyaing met with Mr. Jaime Nadal Roig, the Resident Representative for the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in Myanmar, and his delegation at the Union Minister's guesthouse in Nay Pyi Taw on August 25.

During the meeting, the two sides had an open and friendly discussion on several topics. The Union Minister discussed the successful completion of the 2024 Population and Housing Census, the release of the preliminary population data, and the ongoing preparations for the imminent release of the main Union-level report. They also talked about the past collaboration between the ministry and UNFPA, including the 2014 nationwide census and other population development efforts.

The discussion also covered UNFPA's current needs for cooperation with the ministry, potential future collaborations, and the ministry's role in facilitating entry visas and residency permits for UNFPA's international staff in accordance with established procedures. Both sides exchanged views on keeping UNFPA's headquarters informed about developments in Myanmar and the possibility of continued partnership between the ministry and UNFPA in the future.
