Major Drug Bust : Over 56 Kg of heroin worth over 1.7 billion kyats seized

Police have seized 56.36 kilograms of heroin worth over 1.7 billion kyats being transported from Mongyai Township, Northern Shan State to Kalay Township, Sagaing Region.

The operation began on August 7 in Taunggyi, where the police discovered 7.02 kg of heroin hidden inside 8 water coolers.

Following this, more water coolers being shipped via cargo services were tracked across Mandalay and Monywa, leading to the seizure of 39 more coolers containing 34.64 kg of heroin, and another 16 coolers in Monywa hiding 14.7 kg of heroin.

Authorities revealed that the drugs were bought from Aik Nging Oo (aka Aik Kyan Oo) in Mongyai, and trafficked step-by-step to Kalay by Lal Pek Sai and Wu Hmway , who remain at large. Legal action is being taken under the Narcotic Drugs and Anti-Money Laundering laws.
