An awareness session and trial voting using the Myanmar Electronic Voting Machine (MEVM) was held at Taunggyi City Hall in Shan State. The event was attended by around 400 participants, including officials from the state, district, and township election commissions, administrative departments, political party members, and local voters.

The Shan State Election Sub-Commission Chair gave and opening speech. Following this, the Election Officer presented details about the MEVM system through a PowerPoint presentation. Participants practiced casting votes using the MEVM for various Hluttaws.

The 2025 general elections will use the MEVM system and adopt a Mixed-Member Proportional (MMP) system in addition to the previously used First-Past-the-Post (FPTP) method. Elections will be held in 36 out of 55 townships in Shan State, starting with 12 townships on December 28, 2025 as the first phase.

Training has already been provided to polling officers and teachers who will manage the machines. It is learnt that public awareness and hands-on voting demonstrations will continue across townships.
