





In order to boost crop production in Magway Region, the Agriculture Productivity Coordination Meeting was held at the regional government office on August 21.
Chief Minister U Tint Lwin attended the meeting and discussed the importance of agriculture in the region's economy, stressing increased efforts in growing 10 major crops, expanding intercropping, and improving oilseed production for local consumption and export.
During 2025-2026 season, over 3.6 million acres have been cultivated in the region, an increase from last year, with over 78% of monsoon crops already planted. Special zones for oil crops like sesame, peanut, and sunflower are being implemented, and efforts continue to promote cotton and other key crops.
The Chief Minister urged departments to cooperate, while making full use of natural resources, and ensuring timely cultivation of remaining land. Officials also presented work progress and discussed collaboration to strengthen the region’s agricultural sector.
