






In order to systematically develop hotel industry in the Union Territory, Nay Pyi Taw, Union Minister for the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs and the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism, Jeng Phang Naw Taung, inspected hotels in Dekkhinathiri Township within the State Guesthouse compound on the morning of August 19.
He observed the repair and renovation works being carried out on hotel buildings, rooms, and halls damaged by the earthquake, the progress of completed works, preparations for accommodating guests, and measures taken for cleanliness, tidiness, and pleasant surroundings.
During the inspection, general managers and responsible personnel of the hotels explained the status of repair and renovation works on the earthquake-damaged buildings, rooms, and halls, the current condition of guest accommodation, and the efforts being made to ensure cleanliness and a pleasant environment both inside and outside the hotels.
In response, the Union Minister gave necessary guidance regarding requirements, and also inspected the installation and use of solar power systems in the hotels. After that, the Union Minister visited staff housing that had been designated as blue-level (earthquake-damaged) buildings.
He inspected the condition of the completed repairs, the resettlement of staff and their families, and instructed the responsible officials to ensure the provision of water, electricity, drainage, and other basic needs, as well as safety for the residents. He also addressed the difficulties and requests raised by the staff.
