Coordination Meeting: Matters on tax collection targets discussed

A coordination meeting to meet and exceed various tax collection targets for the Internal Revenue Department, Ministry of Finance and Revenue, was held at Office No. 46 of the Internal Revenue Department in Nay Pyi Taw on August 18.

Union Minister for Finance and Revenue, Dr. Kan Zaw, attended and gave an opening speech. First, the Union Minister said that in accordance with the State Constitution, the Union Taxation Law is enacted annually. The Union Taxation Law for the 2025-2026 fiscal year was enacted on March 31, 2025.

He instructed the relevant tax officials to collaboratively strive to meet and exceed the tax collection targets for the 2025-2026 fiscal year, viewing it as a national duty.

After that, the heads of the regional and state tax departments, as well as the heads of the Large Taxpayers Office and Medium Taxpayers Office, presented on the current tax collection status and their plans to continue collecting taxes to meet their targets. The first day of the meeting adjourned at 5:30 PM. The second day of the meeting will continue on August 19, it’s learnt.
