









The Chairman of the State Security and Peace Commission and Commander-in-Chief of Defense Services, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, met and gave a speech to officers, ranks, and their families at the Magway military cantonment hall within the Central Command in the afternoon of August 18.
The meeting was attended by the wife of the SSPC Chairman, Commander-in-Chief of Defense Services, Daw Kyu Kyu Hla, the Commander-in-Chief (Air), General Tun Aung and his wife, senior military officials from the Commander-in-Chief's office and their wives, the Commander of the Central Command and his wife and officers, ranks, and their families from the cantonment.
In his speech, he said that he has visited the Magway military cantonment frequently and has met with officers, ranks, and their families. He stated that the Tatmadaw was compelled to assume state duties due to widespread electoral fraud in the 2020 multi-party democracy general election.
He claimed that opposition parties, which did not want to cooperate with the Tatmadaw politically, had engaged in fraudulent activities to secure their victory. He said that when the military first took control, protests broke out, which later escalated into acts of terrorism and violence.
He stressed that problems arising from political disagreements should be resolved through political means. He also mentioned that the 2024 Population and Housing Census was conducted to ensure accurate voter lists for the upcoming election, and that today's announcement confirmed that the election would begin on December 28.
He concluded by stating that the Tatmadaw will fulfill its role in national politics as granted by the constitution and will work to protect it. He emphasized that the Tatmadaw is not involved in politics but rather in matters of state, such as national defense. Next, the SSPC Chairman Commander-in-Chief of Defense Services presented food and gifts to the officers, ranks, and their families, which were received by the military cantonment commander.
Similarly, the wife of the SSPC Chairman presented funds to the cantonment's Mothers and Children's Welfare Association, which were received by the cantonment commander's wife. After the meeting, the SSPC Chairman Commander-in-Chief of Defense Services, his wife, and their entourage cordially greeted the officers, ranks, and their families in attendance.
Following this, the SSPC Chairman Commander-in-Chief of Defense Services visited the military hospital in the cantonment. He met with individual officers, ranks, members of the People's Military Service, and Myanmar Police Force members who were injured while performing their duties in national defense and security.
He warmly inquired about the status of their injuries and their recovery, offering words of encouragement. He also provided for their needs based on their requests. The Chairman of the State Security and Peace Commission and Commander-in-Chief of Defense Services also inquired about the hospital's needs and provided what was required.
Likewise, the wife of the SSPC Chairman Commander-in-Chief of Defense Services visited the family members of the hospitalized officers and ranks. She warmly inquired about their health and offered words of encouragement, and provided them with food and gifts.
