Receiving IOM Regional Director: MoH UM received IOM Regional Director

Union Minister for Health Dr. Thet Khaing Win received Mr. Iori Kato, Regional Director for Asia and the Pacific of the International Organization for Migration (IOM), at the reception hall of the Ministry of Health in Nay Pyi Taw on August 12.

During the meeting, they discussed matters related to signing a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry and IOM; the fact that the Ministry and IOM have been cooperating in health-related activities for nearly 20 years; areas for continued collaboration; prevention, control, and treatment programs for HIV and tuberculosis; the government’s ongoing annual procurement and provision of HIV and tuberculosis medicines; enhancing health care services for migrant workers; and cooperating in mental health care activities in earthquake-affected areas of Mandalay Region.

The meeting was attended by the Deputy Minister and Directors-General of the Ministry of Health, representatives from the IOM Myanmar office, and relevant officials from the Ministry of Health.
