






In commemoration of the 79th Independence Day of the Republic of India, a cultural performance and reception were held at the Myawady Media Center in Yankin Township, Yangon in the evening on August 12.
Union Minister for the Ministry (1) of the Office of the President, U Tin Aung San and his wife attended the event. At the begining, Mr. Abhay Thakur, Ambassador of India to Myanmar, and his wife, along with officials, warmly welcomed Union Minister U Tin Aung San and his wife, as well as other attendees.
Following this, the Union Minister and wife, together with the Ambassador of India and wife, ceremonially lit the traditional lamp to open the ceremony. Next, the Ambassador of India delivered a welcome address, followed by a commemorative speech from the Union Minister honoring the 79th Independence Day of India.
The Indian cultural troupe then entertained the audience with traditional cultural dances, which were warmly received by attendees. The Deputy Chief of Mission of the Indian Embassy in Myanmar then expressed words of thanks. Subsequently, the Union Minister and his wife, the Chief Minister of Yangon Region and his wife, and the Ambassador of India and his wife presented commemorative flower bouquets to the Indian cultural troupe.
The Ambassador of India and his wife then hosted a dinner reception for distinguished guests attending the celebration of India’s 79th Independence Day. The ceremony was attended by region ministers and their spouses, ambassadors from foreign embassies in Yangon, chargés d’affaires, military attachés, resident representatives of the United Nations, members of the Indian community, and invited guests.
