







Union Minister for Immigration and Population U Myint Kyaing, accompanied by officials, visited Naungcho Township in Shan State (North) on August 12.
At Basic Education High School No. 1 in Naungcho, the Union Minister observed staff from the Naungcho Township Immigration and Population Office issuing national identification cards to students under the third phase of the "Pan Khin" project using a One Stop Service system. He also inspected collecting biographic and biometric data from NIC holders to issue unique ID numbers.
The Union Minister greeted the teachers and students, observed the students peacefully studying in their classrooms, and discussed work-related needs with officials. Next, the Union Minister went to a temporary office set up by the Naungcho Township Immigration and Population Office at the Township's Central Community Hall.
There, he observed staff re-issuing household registration lists and NICs that were lost or damaged by local residents who had returned to the Township. He personally presented the new NICs to the residents who had received them through the One Stop Service.
The Union Minister also observed the collection of biographic and biometric data for unique ID numbers and warmly greeted the local residents who were there for registration and NIC services. The Union Minister then inspected the temporary offices of the Kyaukme District and Township offices, as well as the Namtu and Thipaw Township offices, which were also operating at the community hall.
He met with the staff and instructed them to prepare for the re-issuance of household lists and NICs and the issuance of unique ID numbers for the returning residents. He also told them to make advance arrangements to reopen their township offices in their respective Townships and to report their operational needs to higher-level authorities.
He provided the staff with cash, bags of rice, and food items. In front of the community hall, he asked the local residents about any difficulties they faced in obtaining household lists and NICs, and he worked with officials to address their concerns.
Following this, the Union Minister inspected the Naungcho Township Immigration and Population Office, which was destroyed by fire during terrorist incidents. He instructed officials to coordinate with local authorities for the office's reconstruction, make necessary advance preparations, and promptly submit the reconstruction plan to headquarters through the state office.
He also worked to address the needs presented by the officials. Finally, the Union Minister visited Sein Yadanar Monastery in Naungcho, where he inspected the temporary accommodation for staff from the Kyaukme District Immigration and Population Office. He instructed officials to ensure the staff had adequate living and dining facilities and coordinated to meet their needs.
