Health Sector : Union Minister meets with officials of major public hospitals

Union Minister for Health, Prof. Dr. Thet Khaing Win, met with medical superintendents and senior specialists from public hospitals with over 100 beds on August 8. During the meeting, he highlighted the importance of the health sector in supporting national peace, stability, and development goals set by the newly formed State Security and Peace Commission.

The Union Minister reviewed progress in healthcare services from 2021 to 2025, noting increases in both inpatient and outpatient treatments, complex surgeries, and the expansion of organ transplant services including kidney and liver transplants.

He also emphasized achievements in cancer treatment and specialized surgeries, with recognition awarded to outstanding medical professionals. He stated that 21 new hospital buildings had been opened in the past four years, while housing and allowances for health workers had also improved.

He added that more specialists and assistant doctors have been appointed, and postgraduate medical education opportunities have expanded both locally and abroad. The government continues to support free services on diagnostics for outpatients and subsidized treatment for public servants.

Hospitals are encouraged to strengthen public trust through improved patient care and hospital management. The Union Minister called on healthcare professionals to actively support the upcoming general elections and contribute responsibly to national development.
