







Under the supervision of the Mon State Government, the Department of Information and Public Relations and the Department of Basic Education jointly held a "Youth Discussion" to promote a reading habit. The event took place at the U Thar Nhyin Hall of the Basic Education High School No. 9 in Mawlamyine on August 5. Mon State Chief Minister U Aung Kyi Thein attended and gave the opening speech.
Chief Minister U Aung Kyi Thein stated it’s learnt that the discussion would feature discussions and analyses on five topics: "Youth and Reading," "Youth and Sports; Youth and the Dangers of Drugs," "Youth and Technology," and "Youth and Morality." He said that through this discussion, the attendees would gain significant benefits, including a broader perspective, increased knowledge, improved public speaking and listening skills, stronger collaboration, the ability to solve problems from different viewpoints, and enhanced leadership skills.
Afterward, the discussion began. Daw Khin San Myint, an officer from the Mawlamyaing District Department of Information and Public Relations, and Daw Khin War War San, a high school teacher from Basic Education High School No. 9, served as the moderators. The student participants discussed the five topics, and the attendees asked questions, which were answered by the students and moderators. The Chief Minister, the Chief Justice of the State High Court, and the state ministers then presented commemorative gifts to the teachers and students who participated in the discussion.
Following the discussion, the Chairman of the Mon State Library Foundation donated fiction and non-fiction books to the library of Basic Education High School No. 9. The Chief Minister and officials then observed a coloring competition for primary-level students and presented them with commemorative gifts.
