Security Measures: Vehicle carrying explosives explodes in Meiktila Township

A vehicle suspected of carrying explosives exploded and caught fire on the Zeetaw–Dahatthwar road in Meiktila Township, Mandalay Region on Wednesday. Security forces attempted to stop a suspicious grey Hiace van during a search operation, but the vehicle sped away and overturned.

It then exploded, likely due to explosive materials inside. Authorities recovered five bodies of suspected PDF members, along with plastic grenade launchers, detonator wires, and PDF markings from the scene. The Tatmadaw stated it continues counter-terrorism operations in cooperation with the public to ensure safety and stability in affected regions.
