The opening ceremony of the Gender/CEDAW/NSPAW/AGMSF/WPS Awareness Training organized by the Department of Social Welfare was held on Monday at the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement in Nay Pyi Taw.

There, Union Minister Dr. Soe Win stated that the participation and capabilities of women, who represent more than half of the nation's population, are crucial for building a modern and developed country. It is essential to enhance their capacities and opportunities. Efforts are being made to strengthen policies, programs, and mechanisms for women's development to ensure that all women have access to development opportunities such as education, health, and economy.

He explained that this training aims to familiarize participants with the Gender/CEDAW/NSPAW/AGMSF/WPS initiatives in which Myanmar is involved, pertaining to global gender equality and women's rights. The goal is to facilitate comprehensive implementation of gender-related matters across various sectors and to enhance and promote women's rights through strong collaboration among ministries and organizations, the Union Minister stressed. This 2-day training is joined by 35 trainees from departments under the Ministry of Education.
