Inspection of Sports Training: MoSYA UM inspected sports trainings in Yangon

Chairman of Myanmar Olympic Committee and Union Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs, Jeng Phang Naw Taung, along with responsible officials, visited the Myanmar Rowing Federation Training Camp on Inya Road, Yangon, in the morning of July 25.

There, the Union Minister observed the national-level rowing athletes in primary selection training in the disciplines of Western-style rowing, traditional rowing, and canoe/kayak as they practiced for record-setting performances.

Afterward, the Union Minister and officials proceeded to the meeting hall of the Myanmar Rowing Federation, where they met with the federation’s secretary and coaches. They held discussions, listened to their needs, and provided necessary support. They also visited the dining hall to observe the lunch session of the selected athletes, engaging with them warmly and offering words of encouragement.

The Union Minister then inspected the boats at the boathouse and gave instructions to the responsible personnel regarding any additional requirements. Continuing their visit, the Union Minister and party went to the Kyaik Kasan Sports Ground in Tamwe Township, where they visited the Sports and Education Integrated High School. They met with students receiving instruction there, provided guidance, and addressed the necessary needs and requirements.

In the afternoon, the Union Minister visited the National Indoor Stadium (1) Thuwunna on Wayzayandar Road, and held discussions with the Myanmar Pencak Silat Federation.

During the meeting, U Ye Myint, President of the federation, presented requests concerning preparations to compete in the upcoming 33rd SEA Games. These included arrangements for joint training, the recruitment of coaches, and assistance in participating in competitions, including plans to take part in the World Championships competition.

The Union Minister responded by providing the necessary support. Subsequently, the Union Minister visited the Myanmar Billiards and Snooker Training Hall at the same stadium, where they observed the national-level billiards and snooker athletes during training. He provided encouragement and urged them to participate systematically in the 33rd SEA Games, aiming for medals and bringing honor to the country.

Later in the evening, the Union Minister attended the final match and award ceremony of the 2025 Men’s U-18 Inter-Regions and States Football Tournament held at the Thuwunna Football Ground Youth Training Camp. He watched the final match between the Kayin State Team and the Kachin State Team, where the Kayin State Team won with a score of 6 goals to 4.  

At the award ceremony, ministers and government officials from various States and Regions, Director-Generals and responsible personnel from the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs, officials from relevant departments, and representatives from the Myanmar Football Federation awarded individual best player medals and cash prizes, as well as team medals and prizes for fourth, third, and second place.

Afterward, U Bo Htay, Minister for Municipal Affairs and Mayor of the Yangon, presented individual medals to the winning Kayin State Team.

Finally, Chairman of Myanmar Olympic Committee, Union Minister Jeng Phang Naw Taung, awarded the Kayin State Team with cash prizes and the national championship trophy. Then, the group commemorative photos were taken to mark the occasion, it’s learnt.
