






The Kayah State Government organized an event to distribute waste bins for waste management and segregation and provide practical demonstrations at Thiri Mingalar Market in Loikaw on 29th June. The event was attended by Chief Minister U Zaw Myo Tin and members of State Government, departmental officials, municipal staff, vendors, and local residents.
First, the Chief Minister delivered an opening address, stating that indiscriminate waste disposal not only harms cleanliness and beauty but also leads to environmental pollution and adverse health effects. He emphasized that he wants every individual to practice disciplined waste segregation to foster good waste disposal habits and follow proper disposal methods.
Following the speech, the Chief Minister presented waste bins to the Loikaw Technological University and the vendors of Thiri Mingalar Market. The university's rector and representatives of the vendors accepted the bins.
Next, the Minister for Security and Border Affairs presented waste bins to the State Education Office, the Minister for Natural Resources to the State Peoples’ Hospital, and the Minister for Ethnic Affairs to the State Religious Affairs Department. The respective officials received the bins.
After that, the State Director of the Environmental Conservation Department explained waste management and the color-coding of waste bins. Attendees asked questions, and the director provided clarifications.
Subsequently, the attending departmental officials, the public, and market vendors participated in a practical demonstration of systematic waste segregation. Handouts on systematic waste segregation, published by the State Environmental Conservation Department, were distributed to all attendees.
Finally, the Chief Minister and officials toured the market to observe and encourage the placement of designated bins for wet waste, dry waste, plastic waste, and hazardous waste.
