Gaza is facing an acute drinking water crisis, exacerbated by ongoing conflict and infrastructure destruction. The situation has led to severe public health concerns, with widespread shortages of potable water and a surge in waterborne diseases.

The conflict has led to the destruction of approximately 1,675 kilometers of water and sanitation networks across Gaza. In the North Gaza and Rafah governorates, less than 7% of pre-conflict water levels are available, with residents receiving an average of just 5.7 liters per person per day—barely sufficient for basic hygiene needs.

This scarcity has forced many to rely on contaminated sources, increasing the risk of disease outbreaks . The international community is urged to provide immediate humanitarian assistance to address the water crisis in Gaza.

This includes facilitating the entry of necessary materials for infrastructure repair, ensuring the uninterrupted supply of fuel for essential services, and supporting efforts to restore access to clean and safe drinking water for all residents.
