






On the afternoon of June 15, Union Minister for Electric Power U Nyan Tun, together with Commander of the East Central Command Major General Myo Min Tun, Shan State Minister for Natural Resources U Sai Late, and relevant departmental officials, visited the Upper Kyaingtaung Hydropower Project, located 14 miles southwest of Kyaingtaung Township in Shan State (South), on the Nam Tain Creek, which is being implemented by No. (5) construction unit of the Hydropower Implementation Department.
They inspected the current progress of the hydropower project as well as the operational status of the Upper Kyaingtaung Power Plant, which has already been constructed and is currently generating electricity.
The Union Minister and officials first arrived at the Upper Kyaingtaung Hydropower Project, where they observed a project model, documentation photos showing implementation progress, and geological rock samples at the project briefing hall.
Following this, the Director General and responsible officials from the Hydropower Implementation Department presented project updates, after which the Union Minister provided guidance and instructions. He also met cordially with on-site staff and offered them refreshments.
The Union Minister and party then conducted an on-site inspection of both the completed components and the ongoing construction works within the project area. Responsible personnel provided further explanations, and the Union Minister facilitated the provision of necessary support to address any needs.
Continuing the visit, the Union Minister and officials proceeded to the Upper Kyaingtaung Hydropower Plant, located around 18 miles southeast of Kyaingtaung, also on the Nam Tain Creek. There, they inspected plant operations, encouraged staff, and provided refreshments and financial support to the personnel.
