Magway Region Chief Minister U Tint Lwin delivered the opening remarks at the inauguration ceremony of the Six-Month Medical Social Work Training Course, organized by the Department of Public Health and Medical Services, held at the meeting hall of the Region Health Department office in Magway on May 26.

In his address, Chief Minister U Tint Lwin emphasized that medical social work is a service that provides direct support to patients and their families in central hospitals, specialized hospitals, and public hospitals across the region or state. He explained that due to illness, patients and their families often face physical, psychological, and social difficulties. Within a defined framework, medical social workers help solve these problems, thereby enhancing the effectiveness of medical treatment. He encouraged the 21 trainees of the course, who are medical social work professionals (Batch 4), to diligently study their subjects over the six-month training period from May 20, and to make effective use of internet access which is one of the key elements of modern development in their learning. He also urged them to view the training as a stepping stone toward acquiring knowledge for their livelihood and to contribute to an effective teaching and learning process.

The 21 trainees from hospitals across the region are attending this medical social work training course, which officially began on May 19, and will continue for six months.
