A carved wooden artifact, potentially over 300 years old, was found recently on the shore of Álftanes in southwest Iceland, likely washed ashore during a spring tide following a storm. The object has been handed over to the Cultural Heritage Agency of Iceland, where it is undergoing preservation and age testing.

The origin and purpose of the carving remain uncertain. Experts have yet to reach a consensus on its imagery, and no clear evidence has emerged to determine whether it arrived via ocean currents or came from a nearby shipwreck. The Cultural Heritage Agency is conducting tests to estimate the object's age and assess its historical significance, while preservation efforts are underway.
