





Union Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn, along with Chairman of the Myanmar Motion Picture Organization U Kyi Soe Tun inspected the ongoing film-to-digital format conversion processes at the Film Archive in Bahan Township, Yangon on Sunday.
During the inspection, the Union Minister heard reports on the film conversion and emphasized the importance of films and documentaries in preserving Myanmar’s history, culture and the film industry. He also stressed the need for systematic and standardized film preservation and urged the digitization of 12 black and white films, 154 color films and 2,781 documentaries while establishing a world-class national film archive.
The Union Minister later inspected the 100-year-old Mawgun Film Building and instructed the launch of film education courses to train new generations for Myanmar's film industry. He then reviewed the designated land plot at the corner of Kabar Aye Pagoda Road and Oak Pon Seik Road for the construction of the National Film Archive and its plans. On arrival at the Information and Public Relations Department, the Union Minister met with the members of Center for Myanmar Affairs Studies and the Myanmar Narrative Think Tank.
He emphasized improving the books publications on Myanmar, world and ethnic affairs and efforts to establish the "Myanmar Narrative Think Tank" to boost Myanmar's image globally. The meeting discussed preparations and arrangements for the upcoming forum, "Challenges and Opportunities for Myanmar in Multipolar World Beyond 2025".
