Electricity and Energy : MOEE Union Minister discusses cooperation opportunities

Union Minister for Electricity and Energy U Ko Ko Lwin, who is currently in Beijing of China, held discussions on potential cooperation in the electricity and energy sectors.

The Union Minister on April 13 and 14 visited China Railway Beijing Engineering Group Co., Ltd, MEIGE Joint Energy Holding Co., Ltd, and Yunnan-Irrawaddy Supply Chain. During the meetings with company chairpersons and officials, discussions focused on potential investments in Myanmar’s electricity and energy sectors.

They discussed for investment in aging oil fields, including interest in drilling new wells, construction of oil refineries, development of renewable energy projects, including solar power and cooperation across the oil and petroleum product supply chain to enhance Myanmar’s energy security. The Union Minister also invited the companies to visit Myanmar to assess on-the-ground conditions and continue detailed discussions.
